The ministry of HRD has sanctioned a new scheme for all the talented students throughout the world and those who are interested to study in India, Human Resources Development officials have announced the “study in India program”. This Study in India Programme is not only encouraging more foreign students to choose India as a destination for further studies but also to develop our country’s share market of global education exports from less than 1 % to 2%. This scheme also approved to develop a global ranking of Indian educational organizations. As well as, they also shared that under this move, will not affect the seats which are meant for Indian students in any institute.
Study in India Program Scholarship Structure:
Under this programme, students who had joined under this program, they will also secure scholarships and waiver. And the scholarships and fee waiver are decided by the particular education institute and also based on below terms:
For top 25% scholars, 100% waiver of tuition fees.
For next 25% scholars, 50% waiver of tuition fees
and for next 25% scholars, 25% waiver of tuition fees only
There is no waiver of tuition fee for remaining 25% of scholars
Indian Government has also sanctioned an amount of Rs. 150 crores for this scheme and for two years 2018-19 and 2019-20 which will be mainly for brand promotion activities.

A study in India program gave the chance in the 1st year to apply about 160 institutes. In these, there are IITs, IIMs, other government and private institutes. The scheme has aimed to attract the foreign students in the academic year of about 15,000 students. The central government has decided and allowed to encourage about 2 lakhs foreign students in Indian institutes by 2023. So, about Rs.150 crores have been allotted for two years of this scheme.
Initially 30 countries – Foreigners Studying in India
For the study in India program, initially, they have decided to attract students from 30 countries. UAE, Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe and other countries which have commitments with India in business, industrial sectors are allowed. And providing more chances for the students those who belong to SARC committees countries.
Candidates those who are interested to study in Indian institutes through study in India scheme, for the courses, they should score good marks. For example, Candidates those who want to join in SAT of B.tech program should score well. There is another specialty in Study in India program. Foreign students who have qualified in this scheme are allowed to study in Indian institutes and based on the score in the tests, fee concession is provided. Applied candidates who have got merit score will get fee concession by the government.
