Minister for Information Technology and Communications, Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Tuesday said that employment levels for engineering graduates had touched 25 per cent now, from a mere six to seven per cent in 2004-05.
This has been possible, to a large extent, due to the last-mile connectivity provided by the Jawahar Knowledge Centre (JKC) programme, he told a gathering at a National Human Resources Development Network conclave held at Mahindra Satyam here. A direct impact of the phenomenon was the growth of IT exports which had crossed Rs.35,000 crore now, he said.
It Minister Mr. Lakshmaiah recalled that India was a serious contender for the superpower status for the quality and quantity of human resources available in the desired age group, apart from availability of natural resources.
And in this, one out of three Indian techies across the globe are from Andhra Pradesh!
