What to do after we finish our 12th standard (intermediate) is a big question that confronts every student. Some people have their plans about their education and career charted out to a T. Entrance exams after 12th

After intermediate, students who want to proceed to their higher studies in reputed institutions need to take various entrance exams based on their educational background. Most common entrance tests after 12th are as follows:

1.JEE Mains

JEE stands for Joint Entrance Examination. CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) conducts this exam every year most likely in the month of April. This is a National level entrance exam for students who have finished their 12th standard. Through this exam students can get admission in illustrious Engineering institutions like NITs, IIITs and institutions like IIST.

BITSAT stands for Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test. This test allows students to get admission in institutions in BITS campuses located in various cities of India like Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. Syllabus for both JEE Mains and BITSAT is almost the same but there two additional subjects in BITSAT: English and Logical Reasoning.

This entrance test helps us get an admission into Vellore Institute of Technology. This a national level usually conducted in the month of March test for students who have finished their 12th standard.

When it comes to the syllabus all the engineering entrance examinations have the same syllabus, but JEE Mains is the toughest of all. Besides the difference between VITEE and JEE mains is that the latter has negative marking scheme and the former does not.

 Medicine Entrance Examinations

When it comes to medicine the common entrance examinations that are to be written are National Eligibility-cum- Entrance Exam (NEET), AIIMS Entrance Test and JIPMER MBBS Entrance Test.

  1. NEET

It is a National examination entrance and eligibility test conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for the prospective students of Medicine. Students who write this examination will be eligible to pursue any medical education like MMBS and BDS. It is for students who have finished their 12th standard in Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

AIIMS is an entrance examination to get an admission into one of the most reputed government medical college in India: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). This is a National level examination after 12th standard to join an MMBS or BDS coursed at AIIMS, which is located in Delhi.

This too is a National level test conducted by Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) fot students after their 12th standard. This institution provides 150 seats national-wide, which means that there is always a great deal of competition for to get into this institution.

Like said before the syllabi of all Medicine related entrance tests are almost the same, but unlike the other Medicine related entrance examinations, JIPMNER tests the English language abilities of the individuals.

NEST 2017

The NEST is the National Entrance Screening Test of 2017 which is the compulsory test for admission to 5 year integrated M.Sc Course in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics from National Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhubaneshwar, University of Mumbai Department of Atomic Energy CBES Mumbai and ISERC which is to take admision by NEST. The students selected to NISER and UM DAE CBS are eligible for INSPIRE scholarship.It is the entrance exam after 12th. The registrations for NEST 2017 are started from 2nd January 2017 and would be closed by 6th March. The test will be conducted on Saturday 27th May 2017. Selected candidates admitted to NISER and UM DAE CBS who are eligible for INSPIRE scholarship of Rs.60,000 per year and upto Rs.20,000 per year of summer and winter internship. The students may apply online.

NDA 2017

If you have a desire to join in NDA( National Defence Academy) the UPSC performs entrance exam twice a year. The exam would be held for admissions to Army. Navy, Airforce wings of NDA, NDA 2017 and Naval Academy Examination, 2017 which is held on 23rd April 2017 and the last date to apply is 10th Feb 2017. Entrance exam after 12th is performed.

Eligibility: 16 1/2 to 19 years of first day in the month where the course is announced. 12th Class of 10+2 system of Educational/Equivalent for Army and also with Physics and Maths for Air Force and Navy.
