APMIP- Andhra Pradesh Micro Irrigation Project
APMIP- Andhra Pradesh Micro Irrigation Project: APMIP, is the kind and first comprehensive project being actualized in Andhra Pradesh for the past 13 years. APMIP was launched at the time of November 2003.The Project goes for enhancing the financial status of the farmers by conserving water, carrying extra area into development with the accessible water assets, improving the yield efficiency and generation, quality, encouraging the utilization of ground water, saving the power utilization and cost of cultivation. APMIP is being implemented with the help from Government of India, State Government, and farmer commitment.
In perspective of the shortage of Rainfall, Rain shadow areas, unpredictable rains and significant consumption of ground water, the cultivating group should understand the need to adopt technologies of Micro Irrigation to accomplish the idea of “More harvest per Drop”. The government of Andhra Pradesh has defined an objective to cover the whole potential range that is accessible in all the 13 areas of Andhra Pradesh under Micro Irrigation, within the next five years.
GOI has formulated another plan, “National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture” (NMSA) with impact from 2014-15 which has been outlined by converging, consolidating and subsuming all the continuous and also recently proposed activities/programs identified with reasonable agribusiness with a unique emphasis on Soil and Water Conservation and Water Use Efficiency, Soil Health Management and Rain Fed Area Development. The current National Mission on Micro Irrigation (NMMI) Scheme actualized up to 2013-14 was subsumed into NMSA from 2014-15 onwards.
On Farm Water Management (OFWM) is one of the four parts of National Mission for reasonable Agriculture which concentrates basically on upgrading water utilize efficiency by promoting productive On Farm Water Management Technologies and equipment. On Farm Water Management (OFWM) is executed in the State through Andhra Pradesh Micro Irrigation Project (APMIP).
